Application of Distillers'' Grains
Distillers'' grains refer to the residue remaining after alcohol or alcoholic beverages are distilled from grains and are commonly used as livestock feed. Fermented from glutinous rice or polished round-grained rice with yeast starter, it is sold in supermarkets and can also be homemade. It helps relieve summer heat. Served with an egg in the morning, it makes a tasty breakfast.
This production line is widely applied to brewer’s grains (coarse and fine), liquor distillers'' grains, soybean dregs, ganoderma residues, sludge and other materials.
Overview of Soybean Dregs
Soybean dregs are by-products generated during soymilk or tofu production, with huge annual output worldwide. As the birthplace of tofu production, China has a long history and large production & sales volume of tofu, resulting in massive soybean dreg output.
Part of the nutrients in soybeans remain in soybean dregs. Typically, soybean dregs contain 85% moisture, 3.0% protein, 0.5% fat, 8.0% carbohydrates (cellulose, polysaccharides, etc.), as well as minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and iron.
Overview of Herb Residues
China is the world’s largest producer of traditional Chinese medicine, with millions of tons of herb residues to be disposed of every year. The comprehensive utilization of biomass like herb residues is a global challenge. At present, most domestic herb residues are landfilled and a small portion is used as feed or fertilizer, leading to severe environmental problems such as wastewater and odour. Some herb residues are classified as hazardous waste, subject to separate strict national regulations on hazardous waste disposal.
Advanced domestic herb residue treatment technologies include anaerobic biogas production, drying and incineration, harmless fertilizer production, gasification for gas generation and gasification power generation. Considering secondary environmental pollution, equipment corrosion and investment costs, gasification for gas, heat and power generation represents the most advanced and reasonable process for herb residue treatment.
Overview of Wood Chips
Wood chips are sawdust and shavings generated during wood processing. They are mainly used as fuel and lightweight fillers, or reconstituted into wood-based panels such as medium-density fibreboard (MDF). They can also serve as raw materials for papermaking.
